533 of Stephen and Jodi’s closest family and friends attended a beautiful wedding reception at the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona, PA. No, that wasn’t a mistake, FIVE HUNDRED AND THIRTY THREE. The room was on fire with energy from the cocktail hour to the very last song of the night.
What set the tone for the evening was an out of this world introduction, that included separate introductions for the bridesmaids ( Single Ladies) and then the groomsman(Sexyback) with Jodi and Stephen popping thru the bridal party (It Takes Two). But that’s not all. As the group made their way thru the crowd and spaced themselves out along the isle and dance floor I dropped Jump on It and the entire bridal party performed a choreographed dance that brought the house down.
This was my second wedding for Stephen’s family as I did his younger brother’s Matt’s wedding back in 2008. Here is a link to Matt and Jamie’s Wedding.
Jodi and Stephen added the beautiful accent lighting and a “names in lights” gobo to really personalize the event.
I often say the best part of my job is when I become more than just a dj, or even a friend. I get a chance to become part of the family. Thanks Jodi and Stephen for letting me be part of yours!
Hey Jamie,
We wanted to thank you for the amazing job you did to help make our wedding reception wonderful. Words do not come close to say how GREAT of a job you did. You went above and beyond what was expected of you….from cutting the cake to having Bobbie help with the YMCA, or just keeping the guest involved it was fantastic! Guest continue to talk about how great the DJ was! We are so blessed to have such a GREAT DJ help us start our new life as one.
Denelle & Ryan
When Denelle contacted me about her upcoming wedding she had an interesting request. When I first started Houserockers DJ over 15 years ago, my first employee was my sister Bobbie. She had an outgoing personality and was finishing her teaching degree. While student teaching the 5th grade at Redbank Elementary, Bobbie put a group of kids together to perform our Village People YMCA skit for the annual talent show. Guess which 5th grader was in that group….. yup….. Denelle!
Here is Denelle’s original inquiry:
I have special request. I know that she does not normally do this but I had a great student teacher in 5th grade named Miss Simpson, and I was wondering if she would be willing to come back and DJ for my wedding?
She was a huge influence in my life and taught me the YMCA with a group of students and we won the talent show. It would mean the world to me to have her DJ my wedding!
I still get a little chocked up reading that, so, I made a phone call, and of course my sister came out of DJ retirement. We had a lot of fun with a few other guests in attendance that mentioned that Bobbie had performed for an event for their family. And of course, they brought the house down with the 5th grade re-enactment of the YMCA!
The wedding reception was lots of fun with Ryan and Denelle’s family really enjoying themselves.
And Yes…. The DJ did cut the wedding cake. Bobbie and I pitched in and cut the 5 tier Uzi Pastries Cake after the caterer fell a little behind with the dinner.
Jen and Clint had a beautiful celebration at Laube Hall in Freeport, Pa on November 7th, 2009. Jen selected the 6 hour premium package which includes 6 hours of performance time and 2 options. Her options consisted of accent lighting and a monogram projection. Here is a note I just received from Jen after the wedding.
Jamie,
We wanted to thank you so much for the amazing job you did at our wedding!!! It was more than we could have ever asked for! Even with an older crowd, everyone was having a great time! Everyone couldn’t say enough nice things about you and everything you did! We LOVED the Newlywed Game, it was such a great way to start the evening! To this day, almost three months later, everyone is still talking about what a great time they had! We have so many great memories, many thanks to you :)!
Could not have been happier with the services that were provided. We had the best time and heard the same from countless people. Our guests were so impressed with our DJ. We got more compliments on our DJ and the music than any other service at the wedding. It really made the night perfect!
In an effort to get my blog caught up before the end of the week, I’m going to consolidate my 7 May Weddings into one post.
Ashley and Jason – May 2nd, 2009 – Sheraton Station Square – Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania
That view of the city is the reason Ashley and Jason selected this amazing venue. I had the pleasure of also offering uplighting and additional sound in the ballroom and the river room.
We kicked off the night with a circle of love first dance…
That transitioned into a very emotional Father/Daughter Dance.
…. of course things got a little crazy during the open dancing….
That went late into the night!
John and Crista – May 9th, 2009 – DuBois Country Club
Another beautiful wedding reception for a great couple John and Crista.
It wouldn’t be a party until Piano Man was played …
Thanks John and Crista!
Jennifer and Caleb – May 16th, 2009 – The Rivers Club – Pittsburgh, PA
Jamie,
Caleb and I wanted to let you know what a great job you did at our reception. Caleb had a fear of DJs until our wedding day. You are truly like no other DJ that we have ever seen. You had everyone up and moving the whole night. We had a great time and wanted to thank you again. You made our reception one to remember.
Thanks Jen and Caleb
Of course, I left my camera at home for Jen and Caleb’s event. Fortunately, Jen was able to share some of their images from their photographer, Theresa Glenn. ENJOY!!!!
Rob and Lynne – May 29th, 2009 – Pittsburgh Zoo
Unfortunately, my photos are lost for Amy and Dave / Michael and Beth / Tony and Amanda
Diana and Andrew had an amazing wedding reception just north of Pittsburgh at one of my favorite venues, DuBois Country Club. Diana and Andrew booked my services all the way back in February of 2008 after seeing me at their friends wedding, Natalie and Mike. Here we are at Andy and Diana’s reception
Andy and Diana selected the Houserockers DJ Unlimited Package. They decided to include the monogram projection, uplighting with custom color, a photo montage and 8 hours of music.
Monogram Projection with Custom Design Light Blue Uplighting
A real cool concept we developed together was taking a traditional photo montage and taking it to the “next level.” I call it a Love Story with Photos. Take a look!
We also had a surprise visitor!!!
No State Troopers where hurt in that photo shoot!!!
Speaking of photos… If you want to some sneak peaks from their photographer Joelle Watt, click here.
I LOVE New Year’s Eve Weddings. Tons of Fun, Great Energy, and people come ready to party! Mandi and Chad had a fantastic wedding reception. The venue was the Bella Sera just outside of Pittsburgh in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Mandi and Chad found me when I performed at Tim and Lisa’s wedding just a few year’s earlier in Freeport, Pennsylvania. Mandi and Chad selected the Unlimited Package. This custom event included confetti blast at midnight, a gobo projection, uplighting, a photo montage, the just got married game, lighted dance floor platforms, and a challenge. At the end of our planing meeting Mandi wondered how we could visualize a countdown because there was no clock inside the room. So I came up with a custom projection that counted down for the last 2 hours of the evening. Enjoy the photos! Thanks Mandi and Chad.
Joel and Shawna – September 6th, 2008 – Freeport, Pennsylvania.
Joel and Shawna had an outstanding reception held at Laube Hall in Freeport, PA. I was not only the entertainment for the reception, but also produced a slideshow that was displayed on my 100″ screen and projection system as the cake was being served. Also, the mother/son dance was sung by a friend of the bride and groom, “Simple Man”, which brought down the house… and Joel and his mom too. I was able to provide technical support including a patch to wire in an acoustic guitar, stand, and wireless mic. Shawna’s Matron of Honor, Brittany, was one of my brides back in 2006. Unfortunately, my pictures were lost from this event, but here is a great picture of Joel and Shawna.
Jessica and Wesley – September 13th, 2008 – Clarion, Pennsylvania
A beautiful ceremony and reception was held at Anchor Village in Clarion, PA for Wes and Jess. Some unique ideas were used for decor at their event. My favorite was a cluster of Paper Lanterns over the dancefloor. Thanks Wes and Jess!
Jenessa and Andrew – September 20th, 2008 -Clarion, PA
Back to Back events for me at Anchor Village. Just look how completely different the room looks.
Jennesa and her mom decided that instead of using paper lanterns, they were going to make these really cool tissue paper poms. I provided the accent lighting to match the theme colors of their wedding. An awesome time was had by all!
Melissa and Scott – September 27th, 2008 – Lucinda, Pennsylvania
Jamie,
Thank-you so much for the best reception we could of ever dreamed of. You made the reception very entertaining! Everyone had a great time and we loved every part of it. You even got Scott to DANCE!
Breanne and Jay – August 2nd 2008 – Curwensville, Pennsylvania
Is that picture worth a thousand words or a million dollars? First, I gotta give huge props to my girl Joelle Watt who did the photography. You can find more pictures on her blog HERE. It takes A LOT to impress me, but the shots from Bre and Jay’s wedding are AMAZING!!!
People have often asked me …. “What is the most memorable thing you have seen at a wedding? That may have occurred at Bre and Jay’s ceremony.
The ceremony and reception were held on the grounds of Starr Hill Winery At about the half way point in the ceremony a car started rolling just to the side of where the ceremony was taking place and crashed through the vines. Thank god no one was hurt or this could have ended up being a very tragic day. It ended up being a car of one of the bridesmaids (who will remain nameless) and slipped out of gear and rolled down the hill. Kudos to the minister presiding over the ceremony, as once the car came to a stop, people were unsure of what to do and as cool as a cucumber, he quietly announced, “Everything looks fine…. let’s keep going.”
It was a great time and an event that will always be unforgettable!!!
Bre’s mom dropped me a note after the wedding.
Jamie,
I just had to drop you a line to you. You are fantastic and everyone said so. Thanks for helping make the wedding a great success. I of course will recommend you to anyone, but your name is already so well-known. It wouldn’t have been the same, if not for you.
Les – Mother of the Bride
Patrick and Beth – August 9th, 2008 – Indiana, Pennsylvania
Patrick and Beth had a really fun wedding reception at Rustic Lodge in Indiana, PA. This is the THIRD wedding I have done for Beth’s family and as I like to think… the best yet!!!
Rebecca and Brian – August 16th, 2008 – Clarion, Pennsylvania
A wonderful wedding celebration was held in the Courtyard at the Clarion Holiday Inn I also got to work with two good friends and guys I have known since I started Houserockers DJ, Mark Weeter Photography and Randy from Keepsake Video. You can see them both in this snapshot.
Rachel and Dan – August 23rd, 2008 – Lucinda, Pennsylvania
Rachel and Dan’s reception was held at one of the best places to have a large reception in the area, The Antler Club. And Yes, the place does have an antler chandelier.
Jill and JR – August 30th, 2008 – Cook Forest, Pennsylvania
Some clients you just click with right from the get go. Jill is an event specialist with the Pittsburgh Marriott North. I don’t know if there has ever been a bride with more event planning experience than Jill. The good part was she had a lot of ideas already set when we met and talked about putting together the reception. The GREAT part was finding a way to surprise a client, who has seen just about everything under the sun.
So what was the surprise…. well most people have seen a photo montage (slideshow) at a reception before… Baby Pictures, Growing Up and Shots of the Couple. The suprise was just as the last slide went black… 7 new images came up from the ceremony that happened only 3 hours prior. Jill was floored!
Big Thanks to Bill and Mandi from Biandi Photography for making my surprise a reality.
First Dance Overlooking the Clarion River.

Here is a note I got from Jill after the wedding
Jamie,
Thank you for all of your hard work and personal touches you put into our wedding day. Our friends and family are saying that you are the best of the best in the business and we couldn’t agree more. During the planning process your professionalism was second to none. You made us feel that we were not only working with a vendor, but also a friend.
